Electronic books for the Far East

Burlington City, N.J.-based Franklin Electronic Publishers Inc. has formed a joint venture with a Taiwanese company to produce electronic books for China and other Asian countries. Terms of the deal, between Franklin and Kinpo Electronics of Taipei, Taiwan, were not disclosed. The joint venture, Pacrim Publishing Ltd., will manufacture electronic books compatible with Franklin's Bookman devices. The books will be manufactured at Kinpo plants in Thailand and China and distributed throughout the Pacific Rim.
